Reporting to the Supervisor – Shipyard, the incumbent will be responsible for various installation projects. Working alone or with a team, the incumbent will be responsible for the installation of multiple electrical equipment on vessels and will be called upon to respond to service calls from time to time.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical installation

  • Read and interpret electrical plans;
  • Install electrical and electronic systems on board vessels in accordance with applicable standards;
  • Carry out mechanical installation of components, including boxes, cable trays and supports;
  • Open and close transits (grommets);
  • Pull cables;
  • Wire pre-assembled control panels in the shop;
  • Connect power and control cables;
  • Validate and test installed equipment;
  • Diagnose and resolve problems affecting the proper functioning of installed equipment;
  • Fill out diagnostic, evaluation and repair reports following the work performed;
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

Team coordination

  • Assign tasks to existing team members and act as a technical reference;
  • Coordinate and participate in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems on various shipyards;
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards;
  • Establish and maintain contact with the client on site to ensure that his needs are met;
  • Ensure quality control and respect of deadlines;
  • Follow-up with the project managers as required;
  • Demonstrate positive leadership in order to mobilize the team members towards the set objectives;
  • Ensure management of materials and tools on the work sites.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional studies diploma in electricity or electromechanics of automated systems;
  • Any combination of training and experience deemed equivalent will be considered;
  • Fluency in French and intermediate English, oral and written;
  • Valid driver’s license and passport to travel in Canada and internationally;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Problem solving skills, perseverance and efficiency under pressure;
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment;
  • Manual skills;
  • Professionalism and client orientation;
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Autonomy, resourcefulness and proactivity;
  • Experience in the electrical/electronic field (asset);
  • Knowledge of the maritime world (asset).
